The City of Valdez and the planning team are proud to release the Valdez Draft Comprehensive Plan Revision document. This document results from a significant public process over the last ten months. The public process included public meetings, focus group meetings, stakeholder outreach, the community survey, Department meetings, Commission meetings, and review and oversight by the CPAC (Steering Committee), the Planning Department, and Administration Department. This draft plan intends to be a user-friendly document that is easy to read, informative, and provides actionable and achievable items for implementation.
Chapters 1-4 provide background on the community, Chapter 5 discusses future Place Type and Land Use, and Chapter 6 covers Themes, Goals, and Actions. Chapter 7 is a more detailed version of Chapter 6 focused on use by the City, developers, and others who may implement the plan.
Please take the time to read this document and provide comments (see next posting to how to provide comments). We want to thank everyone in the community who helped craft this plan by participating in meetings, completing the community survey, or providing comments in the past.
An introductory presentation of this document will be made to a Joint Work Session of the Planning and Zoning Commission and the City Council on Thursday, April 29 at 6:00 pm (see previous web posting).
Please note the document is 9 MB and formatted as an 11"x17" document.
Paper copies may also be picked up at the Planning Department Counter in City Hall.
