COVID-19 and the Public Process

Plan Valdez is a community driven process with direction provided by the Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee (CPAC), Planning and Zoning Commission, Planning Department, and the City Manager. Throughout the project there will be opportunities to provide public input on the development of the Plan.
With Corona-virus (COVID-19) mandates eliminating in-person meetings, the City has moved to online meetings to satisfy community meeting requirements. Public participation has been developed in three formats to allow remote/virtual input and to accommodate those that do not have internet access but would have attended the in-person meetings. The three options for public events include:
  • Live remote on-line meetings using Zoom with a specific date and time to participate live;
  • Recorded version of the live on-line meetings. Videos will be posted on this website and allow participation for two weeks after the date of the live meeting. Public comments will be collected during the two week period; and
  • For those without internet access, paper copies will be provided of presentation materials from the live on-line meeting. These can be mailed out or picked up at the Planning Department. Public comments will be collected during the two week period.
As public meetings are announced, we will post on this website the meeting link for video and a meeting call-in number for audio to allow you to participate live. Recorded videos of the public meetings will be posted on this website within 72 hours of the live event. For those without internet and wanting paper copies, please call the Planning Department at 907-834-3401 to be put on the mailing list. Thank you for your flexibility in the face of Corona-virus.
